Work in Progress Update

Today I’ve been working on further chapters of my current Georgian romance “Lady Mary’s Elopement”. When I wrote my debut novel “Marrying the Admiral’s Daughter” a Regency set in 1802, I had an older female character Lady Mary who helped the heroine Bella Richmond – the Admiral’s Daughter.

But…Lady Mary wouldn’t leave me, I wanted to tell the world more about her story, daughter of an Earl, married against her family’s wishes, cut off for years until her brother inherited the title and she was taken back into the family fold once more.

Mary enjoyed twenty years of married life with her beloved…but how did they meet? Did she elope? I had to provide some answers and hence a new novella emerged.

The book should be out in October 2017. Sneak preview of the cover below.coverebookLME72dpi

Heidi’s Back in Town

Lynda: Yes folk today I have a guest on my blog – Heidi McAnna

Welcome Heidi, we haven’t heard much about you lately.

Heidi: Hi – Heidi’s back – yes I sure am, don’t ask where I have been, roaming the world in my dreams or gone walkabout – hell I can’t remember. But now I’m back.

I’ve got a permanent cat with me too, female called Maggie – she was named before I got her and having trouble with her sister – hissing, fighting, making a nuisance of herself.  Well  I took her in. Now she’s settled, actually she’s ten years old this week, so I kind of say she’s moved into  the cat retirement home – seriously she’s very active, only sleeps most of the day, nocturnal habits – like me and we are getting along together very well especially as Maggie likes to listen to me reading from one of my books.

So that Maggie doesn’t get bored I’ve decided to finish my series of books about Meryl Hanna, who has just become a private investigator except she’s got a big problem. Meryl’s mother – Big M – real name Madeline Hanna – died 18 months ago.  When we first meet Meryl she’s just turned 30 and feeling awful – overweight, low job prospects and not much money. But on her birthday she gets a call from someone who sounds exactly like her mother – impossible Big M is dead or is she?

The book is called “My Mother’s a Vampire”…. oh have I just done a spoiler there?

Available on Kindle with the paperback coming soon

Lynda: Thanks Heidi, lovely to hear from you again and good luck to you and Maggie with the rest of the series My Mother’s a Vampire.

Business Plans for Writers

I’ve just read The naked truth about self-publishing 2nd Edition (by 9 New York Times Bestselling Authors)  and decided to  conquer the bottom before I can be on top – ie. Denise Grover Swank’s chapter on writing a business plan.

It was illuminating and coming right at the beginning of my accounting year, I found I could draft out my financial plan using the tax information I had just put together to send to the Inland Revenue – yuk!

So where am I? I’ve published 4 books and have plans for more …all in the Business Plan and really feel that I’ve got off my complacent bottom and am beginning to go places.

All I can say at this stage is wish me well.

Hello world!

Having neglected blogging for over three years, I think it’s time for me to comeback.

I’ll be posting ideas and tips for the self-published author having been so for just over one year. Previously I was with Musa Publishing until they closed their doors at the end of February 2015. So what then?

I tried submitting to a few other ebook and print houses with a new book “Heart’s Desire” but without success, so having got rights reverted to me from my three books with Musa, I took the plunge and have not regretted it.

I founded my own publishing company Romantic Reads Publishing and have so far published one other author Heidi McAnna besides myself.
